What is terrorism?
Tello is a low-cost mobile phone service provider and mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). This means they don’t own their own wireless network. Instead, it leases network space from a major cell phone carrier (in this case his T-Mobile).
Because of this, Tello subscribers may experience slowdowns. Major carriers always put their subscribers first. However, even with quality discount carriers, you can almost always expect 5G/4G LTE speeds.
Tello’s pricing is very attractive. Because of this, it may seem well worth the risk of dealing with slow speeds from time to time. Similar to major carriers, Tello offers cell phone plans and cell phone sales.
Pricing
Tell offers all customers to build their own plan. For example, you can choose a mobile phone plan such as:
- $5/month with no data, free texts, and 100 minutes of talk.
- 1GB data, free texts, and 500 minutes of talk for $8/month
- Get 5GB of data and unlimited talk and text for $14/month
- Unlimited data, talk, and texts for $25/month
We also have many other unique plans available. There is no contract with Tello and payments are automatically deducted monthly.
You can cancel, upgrade, or downgrade your plan at any time. Check Tello’s website for student and alumni discounts.
Multi-line or family plan
Tello has a Family Plans page on its website. However, it doesn’t offer the family plan you might expect.
You can order up to 4 lines on Tello’s family plan. However, each order must be placed and billed separately.
Your phone account will be charged on the anniversary of service activation. So if you’re purchasing multiple lines through Tello, it’s a good idea to purchase them all on the same day to ensure the same billing date.
You can build your own option for the Tello family plan or choose one of the ready-made deals listed on the Tello website.
mobile hotspot
All Tello plans that include data come with a mobile hotspot, but keep in mind that if you use a mobile hotspot, you’ll be using your plan’s monthly data allowance.
If you have an unlimited data plan, your plan includes 5 GB of hotspot data. Once you run out of data and your Pay as You Go account drops below $0.50, your mobile hotspot will become inactive.

international call
Tello offers free international calls and text messages to over 60 countries around the world. To take advantage of this feature, you must have a mobile plan that includes talk time.
If you want to call or text someone in a country not on the list of free international calls and texting countries, you can, but there will be an additional charge. You must purchase a separate one-time package with a set number of minutes.
The time allotted to your Pay as You Go package depends on the country you specify in your package.
As with traditional long-distance services, prices vary by country. Tello’s website has a Pay as You Go pricing page for determining the cost of calls and texts to countries outside of the “free” list.
My Tello app
My Tello app is a custom app that makes it easy to manage your Tello account. The Tello app can be used for a variety of tasks, including:
- Make domestic and international calls over Wi-Fi
- Change your Tello plan
- Purchasing additional data, pay-as-you-go, etc.
- Check usage status and balance information
- Change your payment information (Android only)
The app cannot perform certain functions. For example, you can’t activate a new line, transfer your phone number to Tello, or reset your security PIN from the app.
referral program
When you sign up for Tello Mobile, you will receive a unique referral link to refer others to our services. You can share this link with your friends and family via email or social media.
You also earn $10 in Tello Dollars when a friend or family member signs up for Tello using your unique referral link. These dollars can be used to pay your bills, buy a phone, or buy a pay-as-you-go plan. There is no limit to the number of referrals for which you can receive rewards.
Tello Dollars expire after 6 months if no purchases or calls are made on your mobile phone. You cannot transfer Tello Dollars to someone else’s girlfriend Tello account.

Tello vs Mint Mobile
mint mobile Works similar to Tello. The carrier boasts custom prepaid call and text plans with multiple data selections and 5G/4G LTE speeds.
Like other low-cost carriers, Mint Mobile rents space from one of the big three carriers, in this case T-Mobile. In fact, Mint Mobile was acquired by T-Mobile in March 2023.
Mint Mobile handles billing differently than Tello. Tello only offers monthly billing, while Mint Mobile offers higher discounts on its services if you pay 6 or 12 months in advance.
Like other discount carriers, Mint Mobile is only available within the United States. However, the company offers the ability to make and receive calls outside the United States from Outside the US
Minternational Pass makes it easy to use your Mint phone abroad.
You can purchase one of three international passes:
- 1-day pass, 60 minutes of talk, 60 texts and 1GB of data for $10
- Get a 3-day pass, 200 minutes of talk, 200 texts, and 3GB of high-speed data for $20.

Terror vs Twigbee
Tello is similar to Twigby, another independent budget cell phone company.
Similar to Tello, Twigby also offers its own customizable service plans. Here are some options offered by Twigby:
- 2GB of high-speed data for $15/month
- 5GB of high-speed data for $20/month
- 10GB of high-speed data for $25/month
- 20 GB of high-speed data for $30 per month
Like Tello, you’re paid monthly, there’s no contract, and you can cancel at any time.
One important difference between the two is that Tello operates internationally, while Twigby has some limitations in this area. Twigby is intended to work only within the United States, but in the United States, from a Twigby phone he can make calls to over 80 countries.
However, to use your Twigby phone outside the US, you will need a Wi-Fi connection, iMessage or Facetime for Apple users, and WhatsApp for Android users.

Tello vs Ultra Mobile
ultra mobile is an MVNO wireless service that operates on the T-Mobile network.
Carriers can choose from six plans:
- 250 MB data, unlimited calls and texts for $15 per month
- Get 3GB of data and unlimited calls and texts for $19 per month.
- 5 GB data, unlimited calls and texts for $24 per month
- 10 GB data, unlimited calls and texts for $29 per month
- 15 GB data, unlimited calls and texts for $39/month
- “Unlimited” plan with 40 GB data and unlimited talk and texts for $49 per month
On the “Unlimited” plan, speeds will slow down after 40GB of data. Ultra Mobile includes international calling and roaming credits in every package except for its cheapest plan.
Ultra Mobile includes unlimited free calls and texts to over 90 countries and free mobile hotspot.
Ultra Mobile is more expensive than Tello. However, if you frequently travel internationally or make phone calls, you may find Ultra Mobile’s higher pricing to be worth it.
It’s also important to note that Ultra Mobile offers even bigger discounts if you pay 3, 6, or 12 months in advance. Some discounts are marked as “special offers” and may not continue indefinitely.

FAQ
If you want to call someone who is not on the toll-free calling list, please purchase a pay-as-you-go package. Prices for each destination are listed on the Pay as You Go page.
If your phone has less than 1G of data left on your plan, you can use Tello to purchase more data. You can purchase 1 GB or 3 GB of data from your account dashboard. At the end of the cycle, all add-on data expires and is not rolled over.
You can contact Tello customer service in two ways: by email using the contact form, or by chatbot on the Tello website. Tello customer service is available 24/7.

summary
Tello is a trusted MVNO that offers customizable cell phone plans at affordable prices. It operates on T-Mobile’s network and offers nationwide 5G and 4G LTE speeds. For users with low amounts of data or who don’t need the fastest speeds, Tello is a good compromise to the more expensive big carriers.
Because speeds can be slow and the data packages are not “unlimited,” Tello is not well suited for data users or frequent international travelers. Before signing up, compare Tello to similar services from similar MVNOs such as Mint Mobile, Twigby, and Ultra Mobile.
