Did you know you can travel for free with Flipped Business?
This subject is near and dear to us because we love to travel and you can actually travel for free if you really learn how to leverage this business.
transatlantic trip
If you’ve been following us at all, you know how important vacations are to us. A long time ago, Melissa and I went on a 14-day transatlantic cruise, but we had to earn money before we could go on that vacation. We found a last minute deal for $500 per person on the cruise. From Florida, she headed to Europe (this was in 2010), with stops in Spain, Italy, France, and Germany. We ended up seeing 4 other her countries on this trip. It was great, but I had to switch out a few items to go with it. I went to thrift stores and yard sales and sold a few items for $200 to $300 to fund my trip. We’ve learned a lot since then, so now we get a lot less than what you get with a regular flip.
Pay for your trip with Flip
Then about 8 years ago we bought a 40 foot 5th wheel camper with the intention of traveling around the country with our kids. It didn’t work out, but I used it to go to the Keys for a month. We found some really cool Victorian end tables while we were there. I bought it for $50 and sold it for $400 when I got back to Orlando. That was what really opened our eyes to flipping and traveling.
In 2020, my brother-in-law passed away and we purchased a 15-passenger van to travel with his wife and children, as well as Melissa’s other sister. There were 11 of us in total and we had a trailer to pull to store everyone’s stuff. About halfway through the trip, I started looking at the apps for the places I was going to the next day and figured out a few things. Initially I did it to pay for my travels, but in the future I started to plan better and use Flip to fund my travels.
The following year, we used it more purposefully and were able to bring back $20,000 to $40,000 of items to resell. Additionally, the types of items we bring home are high-ticket items, as a 14-foot enclosed trailer typically only fits 14-18 items.
Turn around and go to Hawaii
Last year, we drove to California and took a 17-day cruise to the Hawaiian Islands. The best part was that before departure he was able to pay for the trip in one flip. Melissa required me to pay before departure and we sold her one item and won tickets for this cruise for the whole family. We then drove back and picked up items along the way in the trailer.
We have already made some profit from last year’s products. We found two cooktops that he sold for $2,200 and he sold for $2,500. Also, if you work while traveling, you may be able to deduct some of your taxes. We are not tax experts, so please contact your accountant or local CPA for tax advice.
This just goes to show that you can join the trip for free as you can use the flipping business to pay for your trip.
